RIS Gathering- January 27, Among the Blooms
Mark your calendars, save the date. January 27th is going to be an afternoon of entertainment, decadent desserts, and learning some new skills in self care and resilience.
Join us at Bachman’s Garden Center on Lyndale Ave. S. in Minneapolis, at 1:30 for an afternoon that reminds us on all levels that beneath the Minnesota snow and cold or the devastation of sarcoma there is a spring of hope. We will gather in a place of growing things and beautiful flowers to greet old friends, make new friends and learn new skills.
The afternoon will feature Becky Gorman, a faculty member from the Center for Spirituality & Healing at the University of Minnesota, will join us and speak on “Designing Your Own Resilience and Self-Care”. Her topic is appropriate to all of us no matter where we are in the sarcoma journey, newly diagnosed, survivor or someone who has suffered a loss due to sarcoma. Click here to learn more about Becky.
Preceding Becky we are pleased to have with us nationally known humorist Benda Elsagher. Brenda has been voted Twin Cities Funniest Person by Acme comedy club in
Minnesota, "newsmaker of the year" by the Women’s Press and has received the Golden “Mic” (Mike) award from the American Cancer Society. Brenda will entertain you with a message of humor/healing and survivorship. While she herself a colon cancer survivor, she will speak to the common and "humorous" issues that face all of us as she bring us “Laughter with a Message”, or as she puts it “Mope, Hope and Cope”. For more info about Brenda, click here.
Our thanks to Ruth and Dale Bachman who are hosting the afternoon. The RIS Gathering is free and open event for all sarcoma patients, survivors, loved ones and those who may have lost someone to sarcoma. For a map of the Bachman's Garden Center location, click here.
